Though this in a mainly Irish event and isn’t ours, it does have a bit of Scottish flair with Tidewater Pipes & Drums and supports a great cause. It is one several of our members and local folks attend!
Here’s what the organizers have to say: Shamrockin’ in Ghent, presented by Southern Bank, is the much anticipated annual St. Patrick’s Day Block Party in Norfolk’s historic Ghent district. The event launches the St. Patrick’s Day festivities. Thousands of people come out to celebrate with live music from The Fighting Jamesons. The Tidewater Pipes and Drums kick off the event on the street. There are beer trucks, Irish whiskey, and local food vendors. The event is FREE and open to the public.
Drink tickets can be purchased at the “Ticket Tent” at the event – cash and credit cards are accepted.
Shamrockin’ in Ghent was previously called the Greening of Ghent. Hope House Foundation is proud to keep this long-standing tradition going in our community. Proceeds benefit Hope House Foundation. Hope House Foundation supports adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities exclusively in their own homes.
