One of our new members, Sarah Gains, will be giving a presentation titled From Ulster to Appalachia: A Short History of the Hillbilly. In her presentation she will discuss “the impact of Scottish and Irish culture on America is particularly significant, with the Scots-Irish leaving a lasting imprint on language, music, and traditions. The term "hillbilly" holds different meanings for different people, serving as a source of pride for some and an insult to others. This discussion provides a brief history of the term's origins and its contemporary usage.”
We hope you can join and gain some insight from this presentation!
