This month, we are excited to have the British Isles Dance Group speak at our May General Meeting! They are so excited to tell us all about dancing and even teach us some moves. Here’s a preview of what they’ll discuss: Our "British Isles Dance Group" meets every Tuesday to dance socially - and we focus more on enjoyment than on technique. Originally we did a mix of English Country and Scottish Country dances, but it is predominantly English these days. English is done to a walking step, as opposed to Scottish, which is a definite dance step, but both have similar dance figures. The dances are done in long lines of couples, with each couple progressing down the line with each iteration. The dances have publication dates from 1640 to today. The Scottish Country Dance Society was formed in 1923, and became the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society in 1951. It has published books of dances since 1924.
